Abstract: Women empowerment has taken a central position on international forum and it is still a focusing and critical issue. For instance, women remained under-represented in education and comprise nearly sixty-seven percent of the world’s illiterate persons. Moreover, women are the major part of the working poor. There are also many areas in which there is a huge gap between men and women. Furthermore, difference is also seen in the gender’s voice in society; as women opinions are not given a proper consideration. A couple of examples are seen in different conditions. It has been considered that women empowerment can resolve this issue of discrimination and will effectively decrease these differences. Consequently, finding the reasons that lead to women’s empowerment requires more attention. Achieving as an objective of women empowerment is a way in right direction. Empowering women as economic, social and political actors can change policy options and make organizations more range of diverse voices on different forums. It is essential for development process to eliminate gender inequality at both levels i.e. societal and household matters. Since empowerment is a diverse and multidimensional concept and it is clear at different spheres e.g. household and community level, national and international and in different domains it is seen that is political, social and economic domain. It is an emerging issue that must be highlighted at community or individual level and also at national and international platform. It is obvious that understanding of women empowerment is lacking on all levels.

Abstract: A shipping document called a bill of lading plays a significant role in maritime trade internationally for carriage of goods by sea. It is more than a receipt issued by a carrier in capacity as bailee of the goods received by the carrier for their carriage to destination. It is an evidence of a contract of carriage of goods as well as a contract of carriage of goods described in it. In the event of any dispute between the parties to a contract of carriage, i.e. the merchant or shipper (cargo interests) and a ship owner or carrier, the courts make full reliance on the stipulations in the relevant bill of lading. The stipulations in a bill of lading are construed in accordance with the contract made in and evident from the bill of lading. The authors through this article endeavor to highlight the opinions of the courts and the manners in which these stipulations are interpreted and applied in different cases.
